this was kind of sad
by stillin ina newly interested study gave his first bible reading on the school the other night.
i used to be filled with emotion and hope for ones like him: found "in the field," given real hope, the discipline of "the truth" at work in their hearts.
this guy is a good guy and i have no plans for raining on his parade, but i sat there while he did an excellent job with the reading.

Are You A Screwed Up Adult Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus inor did it not matter that you were ever a witness---you're a bit screwy, anyway?.

I'd say hell ya. When babies are born and they grow there are certain stages of life that they have to go thru for the brain, emotions, and body to thrive. Like those Romanian babys who didn't receive any nurturing or be exposed to light they couldn't overcome the time frame that they missed. I think it's that way for born in's. Like dating. I didn't get to date because right before I turned 16 (when my mom said I could start) the WT came out with the "dating is not for recreation...only if you plan to marry". So there went that part of being around guys, regular socialization, setting different types of boundries. Married the second brother I went out with. He was outed 18yrs later. So I just keep living & working. I just keep trying.
Hey whom ever is going to go postal (but not really) just take out the GB. They must have some sort of security there now. Pretty stupid if they don't. I would even guess there might be some guns hidden around. Too bad they have so little faith.

They don't think you can truly be happy "outside"
by lilbluekitty ini was on the phone with my mom last night (she's an uber-dub with a don't ask, don't tell type policy where we basically just don't discuss the fact that i celebrate holidays and go to church regularly etc.
) and she said she was talking to one of my old friends from the hall there.
the friend asked my mom how i've been and my mom said she made a face and kind of went "ehhh..." and talked about my lack of meeting attendance (she doesn't know it's way more than that) and my friend shook her head and said, "aw, that's too bad, but i've been in ruts like that before" as though i'm just depressed and don't feel like going lately.

Has Anyone Been Present When a Dissident Spoke in KH?
by Band on the Run ini know some dissatisified members have planned to "throw caution to the wind" when they exit and break the news as a stunning revelation of lies.
some of my funniest memories were of teachers and others terminated but since they had to finish their contract, they decided to share their insights and horrors.
in normal life, there is a certain allowance made under the circumstances.

As for the "Kraut" thing.....was she a "sweet" or "sour" kraut?
I had alread left but a sister had divorced her husband and they had 2 kids. She was disfellowshipped. She then remarried a guy in the army. It was her weekend to have the kids but the ex husband took the kids to the meeting instead. So she got 4-5 of this army guys friends and they stormed the kingdom hall. I can just imagine everyone turning to stone and then the biggest brothers coming around to get them out. The police were called. No violence, no charges but she got her kids. I personally don't think I would do that. but I WOULD stand very silently and peacefully at the back till the meeting was over and take my kids home. I wouldn't want the kids freaked out. I guess it was a real hot mess.

As a JW child, were you afraid to swallow your own blood?
by biometrics ingrowing up as a jw born-in during the 1980s i distinctly remember cutting my tounge.
i was afraid to swallow my blood, thinking that if i even swallowed one drop i woudn't make it to the new system.
so i kept spitting the blood out.

Never, because it was my blood and I was just putting it back where it was supposed to be.

How the house of cards comes crashing down, in the WTS' own words.
by poopsiecakes in"rejecting or trivializing the genesis account about adam and eve creates a domino effect that undermines nearly every major teaching in the bible!
such a way of thinking leads to a host of unanswered questions and a faith with nothing to stand on.".
footnote: "these include teachings about gods sovereignty, human integrity, good and evil, free will, the condition of the dead, marriage, the promised messiah, a paradise earth, gods kingdom, and many others.".

Since there is proof the the "flood" was authored hundreds of years before the bible's writing (Epic of Gilgamesh) as many other bible "stories" are. How can the WT say anything about anything? The bible is one of the best plegeristic writings of all time.

Attention Governing Body: October 2, 2014 is only 940 days away...
by Alfred inin 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.
oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.
but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.

"But as to that day and hour nobody knows, not even the angels of hearen no the Son, but the Father alone." (Matt 24:36 Byington) That's pretty clear to me. So if anyone is trying to pinpoint "the end" time they are false prophets. Period.

thoughts
by isaacaustin inthrowing this out to the board for input.
my father will be giving his first public talk shortly.
i was shocked by the audacity to be asked to come to his public talk, being told i don't have to believe or come back but can simply come to show my support for him.
